With the declassification of the 10th Fleet records (the US Navy’s Anti-Submarine Warfare Unit), the editor of The Noon Balloon set out to find and publish previously obscured combats between blimps and subs.  In the next decade, many long secret or forgotten aspects of LTA in ASW came to light. Covering more than 200 years’ design and operation of these non-identical twins, emphasis is placed on the two World Wars with near weekly chronology. The book’s final chapters cover the technological boom in the 1950’s and examine today’s submarine and anti-submarine developments 425 pages, with photos and illustrations.
