This book represents the most complete assembly to date of the historical and technical information available on the design and ultimate failure of the stabilizing fins of the rigid airships ZRS-4 USS Akron and ZRS-5 USS Macon. An effort is made to reanalyze this information using basic principles of engineering to determine exactly what critical factor was responsible for the loss of the Macon in 1935. Not everyone will agree with the conclusions of the author; however, the conclusions drawn herein are believed to be logical and fully supported by the available facts.

90 pages, 50 photograph, graphs and technical illustrations.
